Transport fares increased after fuel price hike

Transport fares increased after fuel price hike
After the government increased petrol by Rs8 per liter and diesel by Rs10 per liter, transporters across Pakistan have raised their fares. This change affects local, city-to-city, and long-distance travel, including areas like Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
The new fares were applied immediately. For example, the fare for traveling from Lahore to Karachi or Quetta has gone up by Rs300, now costing around Rs5,800. Some passengers have complained about being charged as high as Rs6,000.
Here are the new fares for some cities:
Rawalpindi: Rs2,800
Multan: Rs2,500
Peshawar: Rs3,300
Pakistan Railways is also planning to increase its fares. An official notice is expected soon.
Within cities, rickshaws, taxis, vans, wagons, and bike services like Bikeya have also increased their charges.
Because of the rise in transport costs, the prices of everyday items, especially food, fruits, and vegetables, are also expected to rise, which may increase the financial pressure on the public.
