Pakistan, ASEAN reaffirm commitment to strengthen cooperation in trade and connectivity

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a meeting with ASEAN Secretary-General Dr. Kao Kim Hourn on the sidelines of the 33rd ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) in Manila.

During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed the longstanding partnership between Pakistan and ASEAN and discussed ways to further enhance cooperation in key areas, including trade, connectivity, investment, and people-to-people exchanges.

Senator Ishaq Dar reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to expanding its engagement with the ASEAN region, highlighting the importance of stronger economic and diplomatic ties with the dynamic bloc.

ASEAN Secretary-General Dr. Kao Kim Hourn acknowledged Pakistan’s strategic importance, economic potential, and shared interests with ASEAN member states. He emphasized the opportunities available for expanding collaboration across various sectors and welcomed greater cooperation aimed at achieving shared prosperity.

Dr. Kao Kim Hourn also appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in supporting dialogue and de-escalation during recent regional developments. He expressed hope that continued diplomatic efforts would help promote lasting peace, stability, and sustainable development.

The two sides agreed to maintain close engagement and continue working together to advance cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
