Airports to be built in three more Pakistani cities

04 July, 2025 16:08

The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has announced major airport development plans for Hyderabad, Mirpur (Azad Kashmir), and Dera Ismail Khan. These steps aim to improve air travel and make regional connectivity better across the country.

According to officials, a new airport in Mirpur is now in the final stages of its feasibility study. The process to acquire land for the Dera Ismail Khan airport has also started. This will help solve travel problems in southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and its nearby regions.

In Hyderabad, the government has given the green light to restart commercial flights. A new aviation training school will also be set up to improve skills and jobs in the air travel sector.

Another big move is the complete reconstruction of Sukkur Airport. This airport will serve as a regional air hub for northern Sindh. The National Assembly has been given full details on the project.

This upgrade will increase flight capacity, make travel easier, and offer more domestic routes. The PAA says the project will change how people in interior Sindh travel by air.

International airport design consultants from Japan and Switzerland are now working with the PAA. They are helping with the design and master planning of these new airports.

These airport projects are part of a larger national aviation development plan. The government hopes that these changes will improve passenger experience, create more jobs, and boost the local economy.
