Heavy Rains Cause Flooding Across Pakistan, NDMA Issues Alert

Monsoon rains have intensified across the country, with eight people killed and several injured in various accidents in the last 24 hours.

Moreover, a total of seventy-four precious lives were lost due to rains and floods in the ten days from June 26 to July 6.

In addition, four people were killed and two people were injured due to heavy rains in the plains and upper areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while two deaths each were reported in Punjab and Balochistan.

Heavy rains in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and the upper regions have caused flooding in rivers and streams and increased the flow of rivers to dangerous levels.

The National Disaster Management Authority has issued an alert of heavy rains and possible flooding until July 10.

There is a risk of flooding in the streams and rivers of Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir.

Low-level flooding is expected at the Marala and Qadirabad locations of the Chenab River, while water levels are expected to rise in the Kabul, Indus, Chenab, Swat, Panjkora, Chitral, Hunza and other areas.

The NDMA has directed the local administration and rescue agencies to immediately prepare machinery and other necessary resources for drainage.
