Rain, Thunderstorms, Strong Winds Expected Across Country: PMD Issues Alert
PMD Forecast Thunderstorms, Rain in Several Regions Across Pakistan
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather alert forecasting widespread rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds across several regions of the country in the coming days.
According to the latest advisory by PMD, rain with thunder and gusty winds is expected in Kashmir, Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), northeastern and southern Balochistan, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
PMD also warned of heavy to very heavy rain in some areas, particularly in northeastern and southern Punjab, northern Balochistan, and upper parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. These conditions could potentially lead to urban flooding and landslides in vulnerable regions.
Cities likely to experience rainfall include:
Islamabad, Murree, Galiyat, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad
Nowshera, Peshawar, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Buner, Chitral, Dir
Swat, Shangla, Swabi, Mardan
Quetta, Ziarat, Barkhan, Sibi, Kohlu, Musakhel, Dera Bugti, Loralai, Zhob, Khuzdar, Lasbela
Furthermore, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are also likely to experience rainfall along with thunderstorms and strong winds.
Authorities and residents are advised to remain alert, especially in areas prone to flash floods, landslides, and wind-related damage. Travelers and outdoor enthusiasts are urged to take necessary precautions during this period.
