Gaza: Israel’s continued airstrikes on Gaza have claimed the lives of 82 Palestinians, including women and children.
Gaza’s Ministry of Health has reported that Israeli attacks have resulted in the deaths of at least 82 Palestinians, with a significant number of women and children among the casualties.
These attacks are taking place amid ongoing negotiations for a possible ceasefire. Meanwhile, Israel’s plan to forcibly transfer Palestinians to Rafah has drawn widespread international condemnation.
A particularly devastating incident occurred in the central Gaza area of Deir al-Balah, where an Israeli airstrike targeted people waiting in line for food aid. At least 15 people were killed in the strike, including 9 children and 4 women. Additionally, at least 30 others were injured, among them 19 children.
Eyewitnesses and local sources stated that the victims were queuing to receive food for children when the airstrike suddenly took place. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals, with several reported to be in critical condition.
Meanwhile, the United Nations and various international organizations have voiced serious concern over the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza, urging Israel to halt hostilities immediately and safeguard civilian lives.
Katherine Russell, Executive Director of UNICEF, condemned the attacks in strong terms, calling them an unimaginable act of cruelty. She highlighted the grim reality faced by Gaza’s residents, where aid has been insufficient for months and all parties have failed to uphold their fundamental duty to protect civilians.
Russell added that the shortage of aid is causing children to die from hunger, with the threat of famine growing more severe. She warned that unless humanitarian efforts are fully restored, the number of malnourished children will continue to increase.
She also called on Israel to adhere strictly to international humanitarian laws and to carry out an investigation into the incident.
