Israeli Assaults Kill Over 110 in Gaza, Ceasefire Talks Stall Amid Rising Casualties

13 July, 2025 11:44

Gaza – Israeli forces have intensified their attacks across Gaza, resulting in the deaths of at least 110 Palestinians. Among the casualties are 34 individuals who were waiting for food outside a US relief center in southern Rafah.

According to Palestinian sources, efforts to negotiate Gaza ceasefire in Qatar have reached an impasse. Hamas rejected Israel’s proposed evacuation plan, which would place 40% of Gaza—including Rafah and its northern and eastern regions—under Israeli control.

Eyewitnesses in Gaza report that Israeli troops opened fire without warning on people gathered outside a relief center in the Al-Shokoush area of Rafah. The United Nations and human rights organizations have described these centers as “wells of death” and “human slaughterhouses.”

Survivor Samir Shaat recounted that those who came for food were buried in the very sacks they had gathered. He described the site as “a death trap” where people were indiscriminately shot. Another survivor, Mohammad Barbakh, said, “We were called to receive aid, allowed to take the sacks, and then fired upon like prey.”

Al Jazeera reporter Tareq Abu Azoum, reporting from Deir al-Balah, stated that the US-Israeli organization operates only one active relief center in Rafah, attracting thousands seeking food. The Israeli military fired directly without prior warning.

Medical personnel in Gaza report that since late May, attacks on US-Israeli organization centers have killed more than 850 Palestinians and injured over 5,000. Khalil Al-Daqqran, spokesperson for Al-Aqsa Hospital, noted that most wounded have gunshot injuries to their heads and legs amid a critical shortage of medical supplies.

In the latest Israeli bombardments, 14 people were killed in Gaza City, including four from the same household. Two residential buildings in Jabaliya were struck, killing 15, while seven people died in Shati camp. Additionally, 50 bombs were dropped on Beit Hanoun’s northeastern area.

Over the past 48 hours, the Israeli army has launched more than 250 attacks on Gaza, maintaining strict restrictions on access to food and medical aid.

According to Gaza’s government media office, 67 children have succumbed to starvation so far, with 650,000 children facing severe food shortages in the coming weeks. An official statement highlighted that dozens of recent deaths are due to lack of food and medical care, underscoring an unprecedented humanitarian crisis.
