WhatsApp Introduces Feature of Separate Replies for Easier Groups Conversations
WhatsApp is developing a new feature that enables users to reply to messages in groups through separate threads, similar to platforms like Discord and Slack. This feature is still under development and is expected to launch in an upcoming update for both iOS and Android devices.
How It Works
The threaded reply feature is designed to improve interaction, especially in group chats. Each message will display a label showing the number of replies it has received. When tapped, this label opens a new screen that collects all replies to that message in one place, making it easier to track conversations.
Within this dedicated thread, users can read and send replies while staying within the context of the original conversation. AI-generated or system-assisted replies will be clearly marked with a watermark.
This is particularly helpful in large groups where multiple people reply to the same message. Threaded replies help keep all responses connected to the original message, making conversations easier to follow and participate in.
Rollout Information
The feature was recently spotted in the WhatsApp iOS beta version 25.19.10.80 via TestFlight and has also been seen on the WhatsApp Android beta, indicating it will be available on both platforms.
Although it isn’t yet open for public beta testing, the feature is progressing internally. Beta testers will get access once it’s ready for broader release.
