ECP Reserves Verdict on Reserved Seats Distribution Case
ECP Verdict on Reserved Seats Case
Islamabad: The Election Commission has reserved its decision on the case of the distribution of reserved seats.
A four-member bench headed by the Chief Election Commissioner heard the case of the distribution of reserved seats, during which lawyers for Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam and Muslim League (N) appeared before the Election Commission and presented arguments.
During the hearing, the PML-N’s lawyer said that when the JUI and our seats are equal, how can the reserved seats not be equal? How can my candidate be deprived of the right to vote? How can we have 8 seats and JUI have 10 seats?
The League lawyer said that both parties should have received 9 seats each. According to the law, a toss can be held in case of a tie. We request a toss in case of a tie.
On this occasion, JUI lawyer Kamran Murtaza said that if Tariq Awan had been notified by February 16, he would have also been included. The issue of reserved seats in the entire country for the sake of one seat would have arisen again, and the notifications of reserved seats in the entire country could be withdrawn.
It should be noted that 5 days ago, the Peshawar High Court, while ruling on the PML-N’s petition against the distribution of reserved seats, ordered the Election Commission to reissue the list for reserved seats.
