Patna: A tragic twist unfolded in the disappearance of Abhishek Varun, a bank manager in Patna, as his body was found inside a well in the Beur Jail area on Monday, July 15. Alongside his body, police also recovered his scooter submerged in the same well, raising suspicions about foul play.

Who Was Abhishek Varun?

Abhishek Varun worked as a branch manager at ICICI Lombard and was a resident of the Kankarbagh locality in Patna. He was a family man, known for his stable career and regular routine. His sudden disappearance shocked both his family and community.

Timeline of Events

On Sunday night, Abhishek had attended a family gathering in Ramkrishna Nagar with his wife and children. After the function, he reportedly told his wife to take the children home while he stayed back for a bit longer.

Later, around 3:00 am, Abhishek called his wife and said he had met with an accident. Moments after that call, his phone went off, and all communication stopped. The family began a frantic search, checking hospitals and roads along the bypass area.

When they couldn’t locate him, a missing person’s report (FIR no. 642/25) was filed at Kankarbagh police station.

Discovery and Investigation

Police launched an investigation and started tracking CCTV footage, checked nearby hospitals, and visited the event venue. Their search led them to the Beur Jail area, where they made the disturbing discovery of Abhishek’s lifeless body and scooter inside a well.

Authorities have since sent the body for post-mortem, with results pending. Police officials confirmed that the investigation remains open, and all angles are being explored.

Family Raises Serious Allegations

Following the discovery, Abhishek’s mother-in-law and maternal aunt alleged foul play. They claim Abhishek had ongoing enmity with one of the people who invited him to the party and that the incident may have been pre-planned.

They further stated that he was given alcohol, and allege his own friends were involved in what they believe to be a plotted murder. These claims have added pressure on local police to carry out a thorough and unbiased investigation.
