Ishaq Dar, Japanese Foreign Minister Discuss Trade, Investment and Regional Developments

NEW YORK: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar met Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The two foreign ministers discussed ways to further expand cooperation between Pakistan and Japan, with particular focus on trade and investment, education, health, automobiles and digital information technology.

They also exchanged views on regional and international developments, including the evolving situation in the Middle East.

Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic and mediation efforts aimed at promoting regional peace and stability.

The two sides expressed hope that the parties involved would return to dialogue and pursue implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

They also discussed the impact of the regional situation on energy supplies, global supply chains and the wider economy.

The ministers reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining momentum in bilateral engagement and expanding cooperation across areas of mutual interest.
