Ishaq Dar Reaffirms Pakistan’s Support for Palestine at OIC Meeting

NEW YORK: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people at a meeting of the OIC Committee of Six on Palestine held on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Dar expressed serious concern over the situation in Gaza and the West Bank and welcomed mediation efforts by the United States, Egypt, Qatar and Türkiye to advance implementation of the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict, as endorsed by UN Security Council Resolution 2803.

The deputy prime minister strongly condemned continued Israeli violations at Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif.

He also expressed concern over settlement activity, settler violence and annexation-related measures in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

Dar called for renewed and coordinated diplomatic efforts by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to address the situation and support the Palestinian people.

The foreign minister stressed the need for full and faithful implementation of the Gaza Peace Plan and Security Council Resolution 2803.

He said reconstruction and governance arrangements in Gaza should remain Palestinian-led, with the Palestinian Authority playing a central role.

Dar also called for accountability for violations of international law and international humanitarian law.

Dar reiterated Pakistan’s support for the establishment of an independent, sovereign and contiguous State of Palestine based on the pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

He also reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for Palestine’s full membership of the United Nations.
