PM Shehbaz Sharif Expresses Sorrow Over Loss of Lives During Heavy Rainfall

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) for its performance during the recent rains, describing their response as excellent. However, he also expressed sorrow over the loss of lives, calling the deaths during the heavy rainfall unfortunate.

While chairing a federal cabinet meeting, the Prime Minister termed the tragic incident in Swat a “heart-wrenching tragedy” and stressed the need for better preparedness to prevent such events in the future.

The Prime Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to economic development, stating that efforts are underway to ensure growth.

Highlighting the economic indicators, the Prime Minister noted that the stock market has reached its highest level. He announced that every institution’s performance will be reviewed every two months this year.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif affirmed a strict stance on governance, stating, “I will not back down from any disciplinary action.” He added that ministers and secretaries will be commended based on their performance and assured that efforts will continue to rectify shortcomings.

He further stated, “Those who meet the standards are the pride of us all.”

Addressing concerns within the cabinet, the Prime Minister remarked that serious questions are being raised about Ahsan Iqbal. He pointed out that the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) performance has been significantly low this year, despite the development budget being increased by one trillion.
