Who Is Sumi Har Choudhry? Bengali Actor Found Wandering the Streets Once Worked with Naseeruddin Shah

Sumi Har Choudhry, a well-known name in Bengali television and films, made headlines this week for tragic reasons. On Monday, she was rescued by police after being found in a distressed state near Amila Bazar in Purba Bardhaman district, West Bengal.

She was spotted by locals sitting beside the Bardhaman-Arambagh state highway. Dressed in shorts and a black full-sleeved shirt, she was holding a pen and paper and appeared lost and disoriented. Eyewitnesses reported that she was talking to herself in Bengali and English, raising concern among bystanders.

A Familiar Face in Bengali Entertainment

Choudhry is not new to the spotlight. She has worked in several Bengali TV serials and films. One of her most notable works includes the film “Khashi Katha: A Goat Saga”, where she shared the screen with legendary Bollywood actor Naseeruddin Shah.

According to reports from The Indian Express, residents were puzzled by Choudhry’s behavior. Initially, they didn’t believe her claim of being an actress. However, some looked her up online and matched her appearance with public images, which confirmed her identity.

She reportedly sought shelter from rain near Khandaghosh, where her condition further caught the attention of passersby.

Rescued and Taken to Safety

Local police, led by SDPO Abhishek Mandal, arrived and took her to a shelter home. Police stated they were trying to contact her family and confirmed she is a resident of Behala, Kolkata. However, she gave conflicting statements about her origin—at times saying she was from Kolkata, and at other times mentioning Bholpur in Birbhum.

The exact reason behind her presence in Khandaghosh remains unclear, and investigations are ongoing.
