In the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, 25 members who won reserved seats have taken their oath. Earlier, these members had not taken oath during the assembly session, causing a lack of quorum. Due to this, Speaker Babar Saleem Swati postponed the session until 2 PM on 24 July.
Opposition parties approached the Peshawar High Court regarding the oath-taking. The Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court appointed the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to administer the oath.
Now, the successful members on reserved seats have taken the oath. Governor Faisal Karim Kundi administered the oath ceremony held at the Governor House.
Among those who took oath were 7 women and 2 minority members from JUI, 7 women and 1 minority member from PML-N, 4 women and 1 minority member from PPP, 2 from ANP, and 1 woman from PTI-P.
With this, the total strength of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly has reached 145 members.
