Tragic Incident: Father, Daughter Swept Away in Rainwater Drain During Heavy Rain in Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi: A tragic incident occurred in a private housing society in Rawalpindi on Tuesday when a retired army officer and his daughter were swept away in a rainwater drain during heavy monsoon rainfall.

According to rescue sources, retired Colonel Ishaq Qazi and his 25-year-old daughter were traveling in a grey-colored car through Phase 5 of the housing society when the incident took place. As they attempted to navigate a road flooded with rainwater, the car stalled near a rainwater drain due to the water accumulation.

While Colonel Qazi tried to restart the vehicle, the water current intensified. Despite their efforts to seek help, the powerful flow swept both the father and daughter along with the car into the drain.

The ongoing monsoon rains have caused significant flooding and high water levels in streams and drains across Punjab, with similar scenes of flash floods being widely circulated on social media.

Immediately following the incident, police, Rescue 1122 teams, housing society staff, and divers launched a search operation to locate the missing individuals.
