In a new move, Dubai has introduced significant changes in the renewal process of Emirates ID cards and visas, directly impacting Pakistani citizens and other expats living in the UAE.
Visa Applications Linked to Traffic Fine Clearance
Dubai residents must now clear all outstanding traffic fines before applying for the renewal, cancellation, or replacement of their Emirati visas. Immigration authorities have clarified that “no visa-related application will be processed without the payment of outstanding traffic fines.”
Automated System to Detect Violations
The Dubai Immigration Department, in partnership with Dubai Police, has launched an automated online system. This system checks the applicant’s name for any traffic violations during the visa update process. If any fines are found, “the visa application will be halted.”
Payment Options for Fines Over AED 3,000
According to officials, if a person has traffic fines totaling more than AED 3,000, they can pay in easy installments of 3, 6, or 12 months using the Dubai Police app or website.
New Rule for Those Leaving UAE Permanently
For residents planning to leave the UAE permanently and who own a vehicle, a Non-Liability Certificate must now be obtained. This certificate can be issued via Dubai Police smart service centers.
Authorities say these updates aim to ensure better compliance with traffic regulations and financial responsibilities.
