Heavy rain expected across Pakistan from July 27 to 31

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted more monsoon rain across the country starting Sunday, July 27, till July 31.

According to the forecast, Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan will likely receive heavy rainfall at some places during these days. Sindh may also get rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms on July 30 and 31.

In Balochistan, heavy rain is expected from the night of July 29 until July 31. There are warnings of possible flooding, river overflows, and landslides in hilly areas.

High Alert in Azad Kashmir

The State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) has issued a high alert in Azad Kashmir. Heavy rain and strong winds are expected from July 27 to 31 in areas like:

  • Muzaffarabad

  • Jhelum Valley

  • Hattian Bala

  • Neelum Valley

  • Rawalakot

  • Bagh

  • Haveli

  • Sidhanoti

  • Kotli

  • Bhimber

  • Mirpur

There is a risk of flash floods, river flooding, and landslides in these areas. People have been advised to stay safe and avoid going near rivers or risky locations. SDMA also urged residents to secure weak structures, mud houses, signboards, and solar panels.

Rain Alert in Punjab

The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a warning for the fifth monsoon spell from July 28 to 31. Heavy rain is expected in major cities like Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, and Faisalabad, which could cause urban flooding.

Other cities likely to receive rain include:

  • Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum

  • Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal

  • Sahiwal, Jhang, Sargodha, Mianwali, Chiniot

  • Nankana Sahib, Khanewal, Bhakkar, Rajanpur

  • D.G. Khan, and Bahawalpur

Public Advisory

All government departments have been told to stay alert and take safety steps. Citizens are advised to:

  • Stay updated with weather news

  • Avoid unnecessary travel to affected areas

  • Stay away from rivers and flood-prone places

  • Report any emergency to local authorities
