Battle of Truth & Independence Day Celebrations Kick Off in Neelum Valley

Neelum Valley: In collaboration with the Pakistan Army and District Administration, the 13-day celebrations of the “Battle of Truth” and Independence Day have begun.

Deputy Commissioner Nadeem Janjua, along with Commander Kil Brigade and SP Khawaja Sadiq, inaugurated the colorful events of the Battle of Truth and Independence Day at Kil Ground.

The Battle of Truth and Independence Day celebrations will continue from August 1st until the night of August 14th. On August 13th, a grand Independence Day and Battle of Truth rally will be taken out from Taobat to Keran.

A grand inaugural ceremony was held at Falcon Ground, Kil, attended by military and civil officials as well as civil society members. Deputy Commissioner Nadeem Janjua, SP Khawaja Sadiq, Assistant Commissioner Raja Bilal, DSP Sardar Fayyaz Sarwar, District Health Officer Dr. Ghulam Nabi, MS Dr. Muhammad Ashraf, and local dignitaries participated in large numbers.

As part of these celebrations, various sports competitions will be held from August 1st to 14th in educational institutions in Upper Neelum and surrounding valleys.

The Battle of Truth Festival will continue for two weeks and will include speech contests, general knowledge competitions, painting, model-making, polo matches (teams from Gilgit, Chilas, and Kashmir), athletics, cricket, volleyball, marathon races, and badminton tournaments. Million Smiles Foundation is playing a key role in organizing the Battle of Truth and Independence Day events.

All celebrations will conclude on August 13th with three major events. In Kil, the closing ceremony of sports events will take place, featuring a polo final match, paragliding, and prize distribution.

Several cultural stalls will also be set up to attract locals and tourists. An Independence Rally will be taken out from Taobat to the Keran memorial.

On the night of Independence Day, a grand ceremony will be held at the Keran memorial, featuring cultural dances, tableaux, singer performances, and fireworks. Teams from Neelum Valley and other areas will participate to celebrate Independence Day and pay tribute to the martyrs of the Battle of Truth.
