PM GB Flood Relief Package
Gilgit: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited Gilgit and announced a Rs. 4 billion relief package for flood-affected families. He distributed relief cheques to those impacted and promised continued support until all victims are resettled.
In his speech, the Prime Minister expressed sorrow over the loss of lives and damage caused by heavy rains and floods. He offered prayers for the deceased and the recovery of the injured. He said Pakistan is among the countries most affected by climate change, and the disasters are a clear sign of that.
PM Shehbaz stressed the urgent need for an advance warning system, pointing out that such a system has been on paper for the past seven years but not implemented. He also said that the federal and Gilgit-Baltistan governments will work together to tackle future natural disasters.
He promised to return to Gilgit at the end of August and assured residents that he would keep visiting until they are fully settled in their homes. “Even a one-hour delay in the timeline won’t be tolerated,” he warned officials.
The Prime Minister also announced a 100-megawatt solar power project to be completed this year and shared plans to build a Danish school in Gilgit with federal government funds.
