Field Marshal Asim Munir Accuses India of Regional Destabilization
Field Marshal Asim Munir
Washington: During his US visit, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Gen. Syed Asim Munir, addressed the Pakistani community, calling it an honor to speak to overseas Pakistanis. He described them as a source of pride, saying they are “not a brain drain but a brain gain” for the country. He praised their dedication, noting that they are always the first to respond to calls for help during national emergencies.
Gen. Munir strongly criticized India, accusing it of regional destabilization and involvement in transnational terrorism through its intelligence agency RAW. He cited incidents such as the killing of a Sikh leader in Canada, the case of eight Indian Navy officers in Qatar, and the arrest of spy Kulbhushan Jadhav as examples. He condemned recent Indian aggression against Pakistan, calling it a violation of sovereignty that risked pushing the region to the brink of war. He thanked former US President Donald Trump for his strategic leadership in preventing a major conflict between Pakistan and India.
The Army Chief reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to defending its sovereignty, stressing that any future Indian aggression would be met with a strong response. He reiterated that Kashmir is not India’s internal matter but an unresolved international dispute, supported by UN Security Council resolutions, and described it as Pakistan’s “jugular vein.” He also addressed threats from terrorist groups operating from Afghanistan, stating there would be no sympathy for terrorists.
On international relations, Gen. Munir highlighted recent diplomatic successes, including ongoing agreements with the US, Saudi Arabia, UAE, and China to boost investment and economic cooperation. He emphasized the role of Pakistan’s 64% young population in building the nation’s future and urged the new generation to adopt a spirit of unity and purpose. He also cautioned against misinformation on social media, quoting the Quran’s guidance on verifying news before believing it. The Army Chief concluded with a call for national unity, resilience, and collective effort toward a stronger Pakistan.
