PM Congratulates Azerbaijan on Armenia Peace Deal

Islamabad – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev, congratulating him and the people of Azerbaijan on signing a peace agreement with Armenia.

The Prime Minister praised President Aliyev’s vision and statesmanship in resolving a decades-old conflict, saying the agreement would usher in a new era of prosperity for the region. He also appreciated the role of former US President Donald Trump in facilitating the peace process.

President Aliyev thanked the government and people of Pakistan for their consistent support on the Karabakh issue. Prime Minister Shehbaz reiterated that Pakistan considers supporting Azerbaijan’s leadership a national duty. Both leaders expressed hope that peace in the region would further enhance cooperation between Central Asian countries.

The two leaders reviewed the positive progress in bilateral relations and cooperation, expressing satisfaction over recent developments. Prime Minister Shehbaz invited President Aliyev to visit Pakistan, while both sides also discussed the possibility of meeting during the upcoming SCO Summit.

They agreed to continue strengthening bilateral ties in various fields, including trade, investment, and cultural exchanges, with a shared commitment to peace and regional stability.
