August 13, 2025 – Hong Kong: Japanese pop singer Kenshin Kamimura, 26, was found guilty of indecent assault by a Hong Kong court on Wednesday. The case involved a female interpreter who accused the singer of touching her without consent during a dinner earlier this year.
What Happened?
The incident took place in March 2025, after a fan meet event. Kamimura and his team went to a restaurant to celebrate. During the dinner, the woman was working as his interpreter.
In court, the victim said that Kamimura touched her thighs multiple times, even though she clearly told him to stop. He also asked her to go to the bathroom with him, which made her uncomfortable.
The Verdict
Magistrate Peter Yu said Kamimura’s actions showed “clear disrespect for women.” The court found him guilty and ordered him to pay a fine of HK$15,000 (around $1,900 USD). He did not receive jail time.
Kamimura reportedly hugged his court translator after learning he would avoid prison.
Reaction from Fans
Fans waited for hours outside the court. Some cried when they heard the verdict. One fan, a 30-year-old from northern China, said the trial had hurt Kamimura’s image and triggered online hate.
Despite the court’s decision, many fans still support the star. But others believe the punishment was too light for what he did.
