Chehlum procession: Islamabad Traffic plan issued - Check Routes
August 14, 2025 – Islamabad: The Islamabad Traffic Police have issued a detailed traffic plan for the 19th Safar Chehlum procession taking place today (Thursday) in the federal capital. The arrangements were made under the directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi and finalised by Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Capt (R) Zeeshan Haider.
According to the traffic police spokesperson, the main procession will start from Imambargah G-6/2. It will follow its traditional route before returning to the same location.
Roads to Remain Closed During the Procession
Several roads will be closed for all types of traffic to ensure the safety of participants.
Fazal Haq Road from Polyclinic to Kulsoom Plaza will remain shut.
Seventh Avenue will be closed in both directions from Daman-e-Koh Chowk to Chand Tara Chowk (Blue Area Out Loop) and from Seventh Avenue Chowk to Soharwardi Road.
Saddar Road from Iqbal Hall to Melody Chowk will not be accessible.
Municipal Road from Lal Masjid to Shuhada Chowk and GPO Chowk will also be closed.
Luqman Hakeem Road from Polyclinic to Iqbal Hall will be sealed for vehicles.
Alternate Routes for Commuters
Motorists are advised to use:
Jinnah Avenue from Kulsoom Plaza to China Chowk.
Soharwardi Road and Margalla Road as alternate corridors.
Aabpara Road and Shaheed Millat Road for local access.
Parking and Public Advisory
CTO Capt (R) Zeeshan Haider urged citizens to avoid illegal parking near the procession route. He advised using only designated parking areas to prevent traffic jams.
Traffic police officers will be deployed across key points to guide road users and manage diversions. The public has been requested to cooperate with police officials and plan their travel accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
