Pakistan Army Engineers Clear Roads, Set Up Field Hospital in Flood-Hit Areas
Pakistan Army in Flood-Hit Areas
The Pakistan Army has launched large-scale relief and recovery operations in the flood-affected regions of Shangla, Buner, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Army’s Corps of Engineers successfully cleared a key road in Shangla that was blocked due to a major landslide. Army engineers, equipped with heavy machinery, have been deployed in Alpuri and other affected areas to continue road clearance work, especially on the Aloch–Chakesar Road, which is blocked at multiple locations.
In Buner, road clearance and recovery operations are actively underway in Pishanwai, Batai, Gokand, and Pir Baba to restore access for local residents.
Meanwhile, in Gilgit-Baltistan, the Army has established a field hospital in the remote village of Tirophandor. This effort was carried out on the special instructions of the Army Chief to provide medical support to residents who were cut off due to blocked roads and had no access to healthcare.
The field hospital is fully equipped with specialist doctors, including pediatricians, gynecologists, medical specialists, and general duty medical officers (GDMOs). The medical team examined patients and provided essential medicines on the spot.
Locals are facing severe health issues due to the isolation caused by landslides and road closures. The Army’s timely response has been praised for bringing much-needed relief to the affected communities.
