Who is Jaswinder Bhalla? Punjabi Cinema Icon Passes Away, Cause of Death!
Renowned Punjabi film industry comedian Jaswinder Bhalla passed away on Friday at the age of 65, according to reports.
He had been admitted to Fortis Hospital in Chandigarh for treatment over the past few days and breathed his last there this morning. His final rites will take place on Saturday at Balongi Cremation Ground in Mohali.
Jaswinder Bhalla began his career in the 1980s and 1990s with stage plays and comedy albums, quickly winning hearts with his spontaneous humor and iconic dialogues. He made his film debut with Dulla Bhatti and later appeared in Jaspal Bhatti’s satirical Hindi film Mahaul Theek Hai (1999).
Over the years, he delivered unforgettable performances in several Punjabi blockbusters such as Jatt and Juliet, Sardaar Ji, and most memorably, the Carry On Jatta series, where his portrayal of Advocate Dhillon remains etched in fans’ minds.
Widely regarded as a pillar of Punjabi comedy, Bhalla’s impeccable timing, witty one-liners, and ability to turn even minor roles into memorable moments earned him immense respect in the industry.
He is survived by his wife, Parmdeep Kaur, a fine arts teacher in Chandigarh, and his son, actor Pukhraj Bhalla, who began his career with music videos before moving to films. The father-son duo shared the screen in the 2013 film Stupid 7.
