Kamran Tessori Donates Five Months’ Salary for Flood Victims

29 August, 2025 21:26

Karachi: Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori has pledged to donate his five months’ salary to support relief efforts for people affected by the ongoing floods in the province.

In a statement on Friday, the governor said he wanted to stand with the victims in this difficult time. “It is a time to give back to our people. I am donating my five months’ salary to the flood victims,” Tessori announced.

Governor Tessori also confirmed that a relief cell is being set up at Governor House to manage donations and oversee relief activities. Trucks carrying food, tents, and medical supplies will soon be dispatched to affected districts.

The floods have been described by officials as the worst in 40 years. According to disaster management authorities:

  • Over 1.4 million people have been displaced in Punjab.

  • Sindh has seen large-scale damage to homes, crops, and infrastructure.

  • At least 25 deaths have been reported in Punjab in recent days.

Tessori urged citizens, businesses, and institutions to contribute. “Government assistance is vital, but the issue is too immense. Everyone must play their part by providing food, shelter, and medicine for those in need,” he said.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called a high-level meeting to review flood relief operations, while the Pakistani military continues rescue missions in submerged villages.

Economists warn that the disaster will worsen inflation, damage agriculture, and strain Pakistan’s fragile economy. Experts stress the need for long-term flood control measures including new reservoirs, early warning systems, and stronger river embankments to prevent recurring crises.
