German Consulate Strongly Condemns Quetta Suicide Blast

KARACHI–: The German Consulate General in Karachi has strongly condemned Tuesday night’s suicide blast in Quetta that left at least 13 people dead and more than 35 injured.

In a statement on social media, the Consulate said: “We’re saddened to hear about the suicide blast in Sariab Road, Quetta. Our thoughts are with the victims’ families and with those injured.” The mission called the attack a “cowardly act” and extended condolences to the bereaved families.

The deadly explosion occurred near Shahwani Stadium on Sariab Road shortly after a political gathering of the Balochistan National Party (BNP) had concluded.

Police confirmed that the suicide bomber detonated explosives as BNP chief Sardar Akhtar Jan Mengal, PkMAP chairman Mahmood Khan Achakzai, ANP provincial president Asghar Khan Achakzai, and National Party leader Kabir Muhammad Shahi were leaving the venue.

Special Branch officer Muhammad Hanif and 12 BNP workers died instantly, while former MPA Ahmad Nawaz was among more than 35 others critically injured. The blast also destroyed a dozen cars and motorcycles parked nearby. Senior political leaders, however, escaped unharmed.

Rescue teams shifted the injured to Civil Hospital Quetta and Bolan Medical Complex, where several victims remain in critical condition.

Law enforcement agencies sealed off the blast site and collected body parts of the suspected bomber for forensic analysis. The Balochistan Home Department has ordered a high-level investigation into the incident, while security forces continue search operations in surrounding areas.

Germany’s strong condemnation adds to growing calls for peace and stability in Balochistan, where political gatherings and security officials have increasingly been targeted by militant attacks.
