JI Chief Calls for National Strategy on Water, Climate challenges
Karachi – Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, has called for a comprehensive national strategy to tackle Pakistan’s growing water crisis and climate-related challenges.
Speaking to the media, Hafiz Naeem stressed the need to bring together experts from all fields to find practical solutions for the country’s problems. “We need a permanent policy on water management,” he said.
He highlighted that Pakistan lacks proper equipment for climate and weather warnings, making it difficult to prepare for disasters. “If we receive timely alerts about cloudbursts, we can save human lives,” he added.
Hafiz Naeem pointed out that preventive measures before floods are the responsibility of the government. He said Jamaat-e-Islami is ready to help flood victims, but stronger disaster preparedness is urgently required.
Emphasizing the role of deforestation, he noted that cutting down trees has worsened the flooding situation across the country, including in Buner. “If mountains had trees, we could reduce the temperature by at least 2 degrees. This would help prevent cloudbursts and lessen the impact of climate disasters,” he explained.
He further stated that despite difficult times, Pakistan has defeated its enemies in the past, and with the right strategy, the nation can also overcome today’s environmental challenges.
