India has released more water into the Sutlej River, resulting in an increased flow.

The Indian High Commission notified Pakistan’s Ministry of Water Resources about the release of water into the Sutlej River. Following this, the Ministry issued a flood warning.

PDMA Punjab stated that the additional water released by India will cause a further rise in the Sutlej River’s flow. Currently, there is a high-level flood downstream at Harike and Ferozepur along the river.

PDMA Punjab has issued an alert about the high-level flooding and instructed authorities to ensure the safety of people and their property.

At Head Suleimanki on the Sutlej River, a high-level flood is also occurring. So far, 24,974 people have been evacuated from the flood-affected areas of Pakpattan district.

According to the flood control room, 23 villages are fully submerged, and 53 villages are partially flooded. The district has seen 64,663 people affected and 66,913 acres of land inundated. Moreover, 4,106 livestock have been moved to safer locations from the flood-hit areas.
