Pakistan Reaffirms Support for Saudi Arabia, Condemns Houthi Militia Attacks

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has reaffirmed its continued support for Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and condemned attacks by the Houthi militia against the Kingdom.

Speaking at his weekly press briefing, Foreign Office spokesperson Sajjad Haider Khan said Pakistan stood in solidarity with the Saudi leadership and people and strongly condemned attacks targeting Saudi territory.

The spokesperson reiterated that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia maintain close bilateral defence cooperation and said implementation of the recently agreed defence arrangements would require some time.

Pakistani Forces in Saudi Arabia

Sajjad Haider Khan said Pakistani security forces are currently present in Saudi Arabia for training and logistical purposes as part of the longstanding defence cooperation between the two countries.

He said Pakistan remained committed to strengthening its defence partnership with Saudi Arabia and supporting the Kingdom’s security and stability.

Pakistan Reaffirms Position on Kashmir

The Foreign Office spokesperson also reiterated Pakistan’s position on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, saying the issue remains on the United Nations agenda as an unresolved matter.

He said India’s claims and unilateral actions could not alter the disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Sajjad Haider Khan, the official United Nations map reflects the disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir, while unilateral maps and claims by India cannot change the internationally recognised position.

Pakistan continues to maintain that the Kashmir dispute should be resolved in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

The spokesperson said Islamabad would continue raising the issue at international forums and highlighting what it describes as violations of the rights of the Kashmiri people.
