Trump Reveals Why US Bombers Were Removed From UK Airbase

06 October, 2026 12:48

US President Donald Trump has revealed that American bomber aircraft were moved from the Royal Air Force Fairford base in the United Kingdom to the United States because of a potential threat.

Speaking to reporters as he left the White House, Trump confirmed that US officials were aware of a threat related to the base. He said the bombers were moved to prevent them from being targeted.

The US Department of Defense had confirmed on Sunday that the bombers at the base, believed to include around 12 B-1 aircraft, had been moved back to their home stations in the United States.

Trump said the aircraft were not moved by coincidence and that there were certain threats. He added that the US also knew the people who were believed to have created the threat.

The president did not provide further details about the nature of the threat or the people involved.

According to US sources, the concern may have involved possible sabotage or attempts to target the sensitive and valuable aircraft amid renewed tensions with Iran.

The development came after three suspicious vehicles were reported near Fairford Airbase on September 27. However, the British government has said the airbase remains secure.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio described the aircraft movement as a routine military deployment, saying it is not unusual for military units and assets to be moved around the world.
