Punjab CM Congratulates Rana Sanaullah on Senate Election Victory

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has congratulated senior PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah on being elected as Senator.

According to unofficial and unconfirmed results, Rana Sanaullah secured 250 votes, ensuring his victory in the Senate by-election held today.

However, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced it will not issue the official result of the by-election, in compliance with the orders of the Lahore High Court (LHC).

The by-election was challenged in the Lahore High Court by disqualified Senator Ejaz Chaudhry, who argued against the process. The court has scheduled the next hearing on the matter in 15 days.

Despite the pending legal proceedings, Maryam Nawaz praised Rana Sanaullah’s win, calling it a victory for democracy and her party.
