US Complicit in Failed Assassination Attempt in Doha: Qaddumi
DOHA – Hamas representative in Iran, Khaled Qaddumi, has strongly condemned the recent Israeli airstrike in Qatar’s capital, claiming it was a direct attempt to assassinate senior Hamas leaders.
According to Qaddumi, the attack was carried out with direct support from the United States, highlighting Washington’s “double standards” and failure to uphold its international commitments. He said the US consistently provides political and military cover for Israel, enabling what he described as “Zionist terrorism.”
The Israeli military claimed responsibility for the strike, stating that it was targeting Hamas leadership allegedly involved in the October 7 attacks and ongoing military operations. Reports suggest several Hamas leaders, including Khaled Meshaal, Mousa Abu Marzouk, and others, were present in Doha at the time of the attack.
However, Hamas sources confirmed that all its senior leaders survived, calling the strike a clear violation of Qatar’s sovereignty.
Qaddumi further accused Washington of fueling regional instability by siding with Israel at the expense of peace initiatives. He warned that such actions would not deter Hamas and other resistance groups but would instead strengthen their resolve.
The incident has triggered widespread condemnation from regional governments and international organizations, with many calling the strike a serious breach of international law.
