Corporal Punishment Completely Banned in Educational Institutions, FDE Issues Strict Directive

11 September, 2025 14:16

The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has issued a clear directive to the heads of all schools and colleges, categorically banning corporal punishment in any form across educational institutions.

The letter, prompted by complaints of physical punishment of students in Islamabad’s educational institutions, reinforces a zero-tolerance policy towards such practices.

According to the directive, all government, private, religious, and child care institutions are instructed to immediately form action committees dedicated to safeguarding children’s rights. Notifications confirming the establishment of these functional committees must be submitted by September 13, 2025. Failure to comply will result in strict legal action and fines.

In addition, institutions have been directed to organize seminars aimed at promoting awareness and protection of children’s rights.
