20kg flour bag price in Lahore Soar to Rs. 2,000

11 September, 2025 20:45

The ongoing floods in Punjab have caused a sharp rise in wheat and flour prices. In Lahore, the price of a 20-kilogram flour bag has gone up to Rs. 2,000, even though the official rate is fixed at Rs. 1,810.

Reports also show that chakki (stone-milled) flour is selling between Rs. 130 and Rs. 150 per kilogram. In Quetta, the situation is even worse, where a 20kg flour bag is being sold for as high as Rs. 2,300.

Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari, speaking at a press conference in Lahore, warned that any illegal increase in wheat and flour prices will not be tolerated. She said the government will strictly enforce the official prices and take action against shopkeepers who fail to display the approved price lists.

It should also be noted that just last week, the price of a 20kg flour bag increased by Rs. 300, putting extra burden on the public.
