Court Warns Malik Riaz and Son in Bahria Town Money Laundering Case

13 September, 2025 22:47

ISLAMABAD – A court has begun strict legal proceedings against Bahria Town chief Malik Riaz and his son Ali Riaz in money laundering cases numbered 58/25 and 59/25, registered by the FIA Corporate Crime Circle.

The court announced that if both accused fail to appear by October 13, 2025, they will be declared proclaimed offenders and further action will be taken under the law.

In case 58/25, accused Atta Hassan and Sajjad Haider appeared in court and received copies of the case record. In case 59/25, accused Atta Hassan and Muhammad Imran were present and were also given documents. However, co-accused Khalil-ur-Rehman did not appear in either case. His lawyer submitted a request for exemption, citing illness.

The court rejected the excuse, calling it a delaying tactic, and ruled that no documents would be provided to Khalil-ur-Rehman until he appears in person. The court further ordered that witnesses must be presented at the next hearing, otherwise strict action will be taken.

The hearing of case 58/25 has been adjourned until September 15, while case 59/25 has been postponed until September 17. The court’s remarks made it clear that delaying tactics will no longer be tolerated and the proceedings will continue with full legal force.
