Doha Summit: Arab-Islamic Leaders Unite Against Israel’s Actions in Gaza
Leaders from nearly 50 countries have convened in Doha for the Arab-Islamic summit, with the Gaza war and Israel’s military actions dominating the agenda.
Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani urged the global community to abandon double standards and “hold Israel accountable for its crimes.” He emphasized that Israeli operations should not derail mediation efforts aimed at peace in Gaza.
In a stern warning to Washington, Qatar threatened to suspend its $150 billion deal with Boeing if the United States continues to support Israeli strikes on Doha — a move officials say could affect 250,000 jobs in the U.S. aviation sector.
Meanwhile, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva openly backed Gaza, declaring that Hamas should not be branded a terrorist group. Instead, he described Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as “a terrorist responsible for the destruction of Gaza.”
The extraordinary two-day summit, attended by Arab and Islamic nations, aims to deliver a collective response to Israeli aggression and recent regional escalations. Closed-door ministerial sessions are underway to finalize a draft resolution that is expected to call for an immediate ceasefire and accountability for Israel’s violations.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan Ishaq Dar is representing Pakistan, alongside ministers from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Yemen, and others, with participation from the OIC and Arab League. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s attendance further highlights Tehran’s backing for a unified stance.
Diplomatic insiders suggest the final resolution will emphasize safeguarding Qatar’s sovereignty, upholding international law, and strengthening Muslim unity against external threats. The Doha summit could mark a turning point, as leaders seek to set aside differences and pursue a united policy for peace and justice in the Middle East.
