One-Month Winter Holidays 2025 Announced for Schools in UAE – Check Dates

ABU DHABI – September 25, 2025 – Students in the United Arab Emirates are set to enjoy an extended winter break this year. The Ministry of Education has confirmed that all public and private schools will close for about one month of winter holidays, starting in December 2025.

UAE Winter Holidays Schedule 2025

According to the official academic calendar for 2025-26:

• Winter holidays will begin on December 4, 2025

• The break will end on January 4, 2026

• Schools will reopen on January 5, 2026

This means students, teachers, and families will have more than four weeks to relax, travel, and spend time together.

Why Longer Winter Holidays?

Officials said the decision is aimed at giving students a longer rest during the cooler season. Families will also have more time to plan vacations without worrying about overlapping school schedules.

Teaching Days Requirement

Even with the extended winter break, schools must still meet the minimum instructional days. For example, Dubai requires at least 182 teaching days per year. This means any longer holidays are usually balanced by making small changes to the spring or summer terms, so students do not lose learning time.

Families Welcome the Decision

Parents and students across the UAE have welcomed the announcement, saying it provides much-needed relief in the busy academic year. Travel agencies also expect a rise in holiday bookings during this period.
