Strong Winds and Rain Expected Across Pakistan Today, PMD Issues Weather Advisory

05 October, 2025 14:19

A significant rainy weather system is forecast to impact various parts of Pakistan this Sunday, bringing strong winds and thunderstorms to several regions, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

In Islamabad and its surrounding areas, the weather is expected to be partly cloudy, with a possibility of rain and thundershowers. Some locations may experience heavy rainfall or hailstorms, adding to the intensity of the conditions.

The capital city, along with Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, and other parts of Punjab, is likely to face severe weather, including widespread rain and thunderstorms. Major districts such as Lahore, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Multan, and Bahawalpur are also predicted to experience these conditions, with localized heavy rainfall and hailstorms potentially causing disruptions.

Northern Pakistan is anticipated to see even more severe weather. Regions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, Abbottabad, and Mardan, will encounter strong winds and heavy thundershowers. Districts like Dir, Chitral, and Swat may face hailstorms. Similarly, the northern areas of Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir are expected to experience strong winds, rain, and isolated hailstorms.

Conversely, the southern provinces are expected to remain mostly dry. Sindh will likely continue to experience hot and dry weather, with cities such as Karachi and coastal areas like Mithi and Thatta seeing partly cloudy skies and a slight chance of rain and wind. Balochistan is expected to have dry conditions across most parts, though the coastal areas of Lasbela, Awaran, and Makran could see rain, strong winds, and thundershowers.

Outside the regions forecast to receive rainfall, much of the country will continue to endure hot and dry weather, raising concerns about heat-related health risks. The PMD has urged residents to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions in both heatwave and thunderstorm-affected areas.

“This is an extraordinary opportunity for all Pakistanis to witness the moon in its full glory,” a spokesperson said, underscoring the importance of preparedness amid changing weather conditions.
