Instagram Map Launches in Pakistan: Explore and Connect Safely

October 6, 2025 — Meta has officially rolled out the Instagram Map feature in Pakistan, allowing users to explore local places, find trending posts, and connect with friends — all while keeping privacy in focus. The new map feature is placed right at the top of the Direct Messages (DM) inbox.

What Is Instagram Map?

Instagram Map gives users a fun and interactive way to discover content based on location. Pakistanis can now view stories, reels, notes, and posts tagged with locations such as restaurants, cafes, concerts, and tourist spots.

It’s a new way to explore what’s happening nearby and see what friends or favorite creators are sharing in real time.

Privacy and Safety Features

Privacy is a top priority for Meta. Location sharing is off by default, and users have complete control over who can see their location.

Instagram shows a clear indicator on top of the map to notify if location sharing is active. There are also reminders when users add a location tag to a story or post.

Parents supervising teens will have extra control too — they can view and adjust their child’s sharing preferences to keep them safe online.

What’s New in the Update

Meta has refined the Instagram Map experience for better safety and clarity. The company removed profile photos from map content to protect privacy. It also added clearer indicators when the location is turned off.

Before sharing, users can preview exactly how their tagged content will appear to others.
