Modi Government Brings Hindutva Rule, Schools Unsafe for Minorities in India

13 October, 2025 12:37

Under the rule of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has seen a rise in Hindutva ideology, making life difficult and unsafe for minorities, especially Muslims.

The RSS-backed government has turned educational institutions into centers of extremism. Sexual harassment allegations against university professors have been ignored, causing widespread protests by the Students Federation of India (SFI).

In Pondicherry University, police attacked SFI students protesting against harassment, arresting many. SFI reported harsh treatment and mistreatment of women by security forces.

SFI states that sexual harassment cases are increasing, yet accused professors remain in their positions. Notably, Dr. Madhuvaya and Dr. Shailendra Singh face serious allegations from over 16 students. Despite University Grants Commission rules, hearings have been delayed for over a year.

Muslim Students Federation members at Delhi University, who showed solidarity with Palestine, faced attacks from right-wing group ABVP and police baton charges.

RSS and BJP, under Modi’s leadership, are pushing Hindutva dominance in education through intimidation and control. Punjab University’s Vice President Ashmit Singh revealed that appointments from professors to vice-chancellors require RSS approval.

This control by extremist groups over Indian institutions exposes the true face of Modi’s government and its anti-minority stance. Police violence against students highlights the fascist nature of the current regime and its attack on secularism.
