Trump Claims He Can Easily End Pakistan-Afghanistan Conflict

18 October, 2025 11:58

US President Donald Trump has made a bold statement, saying it would be “very easy” for him to end the long-running conflict between Pakistan and Afghanistan. He spoke to reporters in the Oval Office, expressing confidence in his ability to stop wars rather than start them.

Trump said he prefers peace over conflict and claimed he has a natural ability to stop wars. He mentioned that he is aware of rising border tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan and believes he could resolve the issue quickly if he chose to intervene.

During his remarks, Trump recalled his earlier involvement in easing tensions between Pakistan and India. He said Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had once thanked him for helping to prevent a potential war between the two nuclear powers, which he claimed saved “millions of lives.”

Trump’s statement comes at a time when the region is facing serious instability. Pakistan recently carried out targeted military operations against Taliban and Daesh-linked militants in Afghanistan. These actions resulted in many militant casualties and sparked calls for a ceasefire from Afghan officials.

After intense clashes, both Pakistan and Afghanistan agreed to a 48-hour ceasefire. This temporary halt was later extended as peace discussions began in Doha. Despite the ceasefire, the situation remains tense.

In a separate development, Pakistani forces launched deadly airstrikes against the Gul Bahadur Group in Afghanistan’s Paktika province. The strikes followed multiple terrorist attacks inside Pakistan, reportedly killing over 100 militants involved in recent violence.

The militants had carried out a dangerous vehicle-borne IED blast in North Waziristan, killing Pakistani soldiers and injuring others. In response, Pakistani jets targeted militant centers including the Uqaab Camp in the Barmal district, causing heavy explosions and widespread panic.

Some airstrikes also hit residential areas, but the exact number of civilian casualties is still unknown. The Afghan Taliban have not yet issued any official statement on the strikes or the rising border tensions.

Security analysts warn that if tensions continue to grow, the situation between the two countries could worsen. With militants using Afghan territory to plan attacks, Pakistan is expected to continue strong action to protect its borders.
