Pakistani Delegation Reaches Doha for Talks with Afghan Taliban Over Border Tensions
A high-level Pakistani delegation has arrived in Doha, led by Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, to hold important talks with the Afghan Taliban regarding growing border tensions. According to the Foreign Office, the main purpose of this visit is to seek an immediate end to cross-border terrorism.
The Foreign Office spokesperson stated that Pakistan aims for peace and stability, not escalation. Pakistan has urged the Afghan Taliban to respect their international commitments and take verifiable action against terrorist groups operating from Afghan soil.
The delegation is expected to raise serious concerns about the presence of TTP (Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan), BLA (Balochistan Liberation Army), and other hostile groups launching attacks on Pakistani territory. Pakistan has clearly demanded strong and practical measures against these organizations.
Pakistan appreciated Qatar’s mediation efforts, expressing hope that these talks will help reduce border tensions and restore regional peace. Doha is playing a key role in bringing both sides to the table for constructive dialogue.
It is important to remember that during the night between October 11 and 12, Pakistani civilians were targeted in a cross-border attack. The Pakistan Army strongly retaliated, targeting the enemy positions in response. Such incidents have increased pressure for diplomatic solutions.
Officials believe that meaningful dialogue in Doha could pave the way for a secure border and long-term cooperation between Pakistan and Afghanistan. The meetings will likely continue in the coming days with hopes of easing tensions.
