Uzma Bukhari defends Imperial College project amid social media criticism
PML-N leader Uzma Bukhari said on Thursday that negative propaganda has been launched on social media by what she called the “Tehreek-e-Fasad” campaign against the Imperial College London campus being established in Nawaz Sharif IT City, Lahore.
She clarified that a press release has already been issued confirming that Imperial College London will open its campus in Nawaz Sharif IT City. The project will also include a modern 300-bed hospital to be completed by November.
Bukhari added that the Punjab government, in collaboration with Novo Care and Imperial College Healthcare Trust, is building a modern university and medical college in the same area.
“When PML-N works on welfare projects, PTI always gets upset,” she remarked. “PTI didn’t even build a hospital for animals, let alone for people.”
She further said that the Punjab government is also planning to build a 1,000-bed Nawaz Sharif Cancer Hospital, which will provide free and advanced treatment facilities to patients.
Uzma Bukhari emphasized that the partnership between Novo Care and Imperial College Healthcare will greatly improve medical education and healthcare services in Pakistan.
