PM Shehbaz announces special relief package for industry and agriculture
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has announced a special relief package to support Pakistan’s industrial and agricultural sectors.
During a meeting with experts from both sectors and members of the business community, the Prime Minister introduced the “Roshan Economy Electricity Package”, aimed at boosting production and growth.
Under this package, industries and farms will receive additional electricity at a subsidized rate of Rs 22.98 per unit for the next three years. The scheme will be implemented from November 2025 to October 2028.
This move will reduce the current per-unit electricity cost of Rs 34 for industries and Rs 38 for agriculture to Rs 22.98 for both sectors. The Prime Minister also made it clear that the financial burden of this subsidy will not affect domestic consumers or any other sector.
He praised Power Minister Sardar Awais Leghari and his team for preparing the package, saying that strengthening the industry and agriculture sectors is vital for economic growth and job creation.
The Prime Minister added that the government is taking all possible steps to make these sectors more competitive and to facilitate businesses across the country.
Referring to last year’s winter package, he noted that the industrial and agricultural sectors had used 410 gigawatts of additional electricity, which helped increase exports and employment opportunities.
“The journey from economic crisis to stability was undoubtedly challenging, but it was made possible through the hard work of the economic team and your cooperation. The development of the industrial and agricultural sectors will rid the country of loans,” he said.
Highlighting the improved economic indicators, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif urged all stakeholders to continue working hard to achieve the vision of an economically strong and prosperous Pakistan.
