Will Trump Run for Presidential Race Third Time? US President Shares His Thoughts on 2028

28 October, 2025 10:26

U.S. President Donald Trump has stirred speculation about a potential third-term bid in 2028, despite the constitutional restriction limiting presidents to two terms under the 22nd Amendment, ABC News reported.

During an interaction with reporters on October 27, 2025, Trump addressed the Democratic Party, asserting that it lacked a “great group of people.” Although he refrained from confirming another campaign, he left the door open.
“I would love to do it,” he said. “I have my best numbers ever. It’s very terrible. I have my best numbers.”

When pressed about pursuing the legal process required for a third term, Trump avoided a direct response, stating that he had not yet considered it. Responding to a separate question about the vice presidency, he ruled out the idea entirely.
“I think it’s too cute,” he remarked. “Yeah, I would rule that out because it’s too cute. The public wouldn’t like it.”

ABC News further noted that when Trump was asked to elaborate on the “great group of people” he referred to, he responded:
“We have great people. I don’t have to get into that, but we have one of them standing right here. We have JD, obviously the vice president is great. Marco’s great.”

Trump also expressed his confidence in the teamwork of JD Vance and Marco Rubio, stating that their cooperation could significantly change the political landscape.

Donald Trump Reportedly Nominated for Nobel Peace Prize

In addition to his political remarks, Trump has once again drawn attention for being nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. Over the years, he has made headlines for not receiving the honor despite multiple nominations.

According to USA Today, White House Communications Director Steven Cheung previously claimed on X (formerly Twitter) that the Nobel committee was prioritizing “politics over peace.”

Meanwhile, a DW report dated October 28, 2025, revealed that Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi has nominated Trump for the Peace Prize, following their recent meeting in Tokyo. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed the development during a press briefing.

Speaking about her meeting with Trump, Takaichi expressed admiration for the former president.
“In such a short period of time, the world started to enjoy more peace,” she said. “I myself was so impressed and inspired by you, Mr. President.”

As reported by CNBC TV-18, Trump reciprocated the sentiment, assuring his willingness to assist Japan whenever needed. He emphasized that U.S.-Japan relations would continue to strengthen, particularly in trade and cooperation.
