Pakistan Railways Suspends Winter Timetable Amid Widespread Delays and Technical Issues

30 October, 2025 13:52

Pakistan Railways has decided to withdraw its newly introduced winter timetable due to persistent delays and operational difficulties that affected train services nationwide.

An official statement revealed that the suspension of the winter schedule would impact all major divisions, including Karachi, Sukkur, Multan, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, and Quetta. Train services will now return to the previous timetable, which was in place from April to October.

Sources within the ministry indicated that failure to maintain timely operations under the winter timetable was the primary cause of the suspension. The new schedule had led to significant disruptions, with trains experiencing extensive delays due to problems such as engineering limitations and malfunctioning signals. Some routes were reportedly delayed by several hours.

The official notification clarified that the winter timetable would remain suspended until technical issues, particularly those related to engineering and signaling systems, were addressed. Once these issues are resolved, a revised timetable may be introduced.
