Afghan refugees’ return to homeland continues through Chaman and Torkham
The process of the dignified return of Afghan refugees to their homeland is continuing rapidly. In just one day, around 10,700 Afghan refugees were sent back to Afghanistan through the Chaman border in a respectful and organized manner.
After Chaman, the repatriation process has now also started from the Torkham border. According to official data, nearly 1.56 million Afghan refugees have so far returned to their country.
The return process is being carried out legally and systematically, with each individual’s documents being verified before they are allowed to cross the border.
Authorities, including the Frontier Corps (FC) and civil administration, have arranged proper food and shelter facilities for the returning refugees.
For over 40 years, Pakistan hosted millions of Afghans who fled their country due to war and internal conflict, setting an example of generosity and hospitality.
The current repatriation effort has been undertaken to ensure Pakistan’s national security. From now on, entry into Pakistan without a passport and visa will not be allowed.
Officials say this move is aimed at building mutual respect and stronger relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan in the long term.
