Government warns public about new passport application scam
The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGIP) has issued a warning to citizens about a scam involving the misuse of the Google Maps location of the Regional Passport Office in Islamabad’s G-10 sector.
According to the DGIP, a scammer has added fake contact details, including a phone number and email address, on Google Maps. The person has been demanding payments through JazzCash and bank accounts without any official authorization.
The DGIP made it clear that no individual is allowed to collect payments on behalf of the passport office through personal means. Officials have urged the public to stay alert and avoid giving out personal details or sending money to anyone claiming to represent the department.
“Beware: Do not share your personal information or make any payments to such individuals,” the DGIP stated in its advisory.
For any official queries or assistance, citizens are advised to contact the DGIP Helpline at 051-111-344-777.
The department also thanked the public for their cooperation and assured that it remains committed to protecting citizens from fraud and scams.
For verified information, the DGIP has encouraged citizens to visit its official website www.dgip.gov.pk or follow @dgipofficial on social media.
